[link]--$15 (50%) OF EVERY PURCHASE WILL BE DONATED TO HELP SAVE SHARKS IN CHINA--
[link]There is an incredible documentary made in 2007 by diver/activist/filmmaker Rob Stewert, called Sharkwater. I'd never really had the normal fear of sharks that most people seem to have instilled in them, and I've always thought they were kind of cool, but this documentary completely morphed my perspective. They are now easily my favorite animal, and the whole ecosystem, not just oceanic, depends on them. And we are killing every single one.
[link]I made this plush because it's sort of my dream to work with sharks and other ocean life one day and help them, but it seems like kind of a bum dream, considering the insanely expensive/difficult schooling it takes to be a marine biologist, and the unavailability of jobs in the field. I unfortunately gave up that dream pretty quickly, but I still love the ocean more than anything else, and want to help these amazing animals that live there.
The documentary focuses on sharks, but it is really about the entire ocean, and how much we'll lose as a species if we continue to - if not do them ourselves - let these atrocities happen. I highly reccommend you watch the documentary any way you can (you won't be bored, I promise you, even if documentaries "aren't your thing") and do something to help. I'm very passionate about this issue, and it upsets me when others aren't, so this is mainly to spread the word.
This shark plush is completely customizeable, from breed of shark to color to size to fabric to face style to any other sort of options you can think of. As said above, 50% of the price will go to help the sharks, but if there's another marine charity you have in mind, I'd be happy to hear it.
In conclusion, PLEASE watch Sharkwater if you haven't yet! Whether you're terrified of sharks or love them, your perspective will only be changed for the better!

I think I may buy one for my nieces.
But YES....ALL YOU OUT THERE!!!! WATCH SHARKWATER!!!! I totally agree with you. Watched it in cinema (yeah, cool thing it even made it into a cinema near my place, though it was empty except a good friend of mine and me) and was shaken with emotion....mostly sadness and anger. And disbelieve: How can you not save the sharks?
Great thing you're doing....maybe we can do it together
that would be really cool, though, i hope you do!
oh my goodness, i felt the same way. we watched it in english class, and sadly i don't think half the people felt as strongly on the issue as i did. one girl actually had the gall when it was over to say, "sharks still attack people. i don't think it's as bad as they're saying it is."
like, wow, generation. just wow.
thanks, i hope it works out
Yeah, I started working 2 weeks ago and still have to get used to the long days, but I think if I did, I will find spare time to sew on more shark plushies...sure that!! And a collaboration would be just awesome
ahh that sucks, i know how you feel... just started work a few weeks ago and i'm still trying to squeeze in sewing where i can. it's tough though cos all you wanna do is relax and veg out when you get home
cool, i'm excited
aw haha i'm glad, yours were the only ones i could find that gave me even a slight idea of what i was doing...
